Replacing the exhaust / Painting the exhaust tips
The exhaust wasn't sounding too great, so I specced up a replacement pipe and set about changing it. Unfortunately the bolts holding it to the turbo looked positively ancient... so it was a case of plenty of release oil over a period of days followed by some intense heat to get the bolts out without snapping!

Below: The exhaust tips were faded and chipped from their original black colour, so we sprayed them up in high temperature aluminium paint.
Verdict: No longer sounds as though it is being choked to death... the sound from the turbocharged flat 6 is absolutely glorious! Definitely seems to have a bit more mid-range kick now - plus I've noticed that the turbo is making boost a little earlier too.
