Flash based storage cartridge for the Megadrive. Loads ROM images from programmable 512mbit flash and allows the user to select them via a menu system, includes Master System game support and save memory. Also supports games from SD cards with an appropriate add-on (NEO2-SD).
In a nutshell, this is a bit weird.
- The blue cartridge (Neo Myth) has 512mbit of flash (64MBytes), to put anything on it you need a Windows based utility (which sucks and hasn't been updated in ages)
- The black cartridge (Neo SD 2) is actually a Gameboy Advance cartridge, but is also supported by the Neo Myth (it slots in the top), more importantly it adds an SD card slot to which you can just drag and drop files normally.
Both the Neo Myth and the Neo SD need to be flashed with specific firmware and a menu loader first in order to work properly. It's a pain to do and I'm not sure it would even be possible to do so on a modern version of windows - the Neo Myth plugs in to a 'slim loader' device that then connects via USB to the PC. But it must have drivers installed.
Good for the time (especially when the only alternative offered a fixed amount of onboard flash), but completely eclipsed by the modern Everdrive carts.
