This kit of a late war German jet fighter, developed under the //emergency fighter program// was bought to go in my second Luftwaffe diorama, for [[[[blog:models:luftwaffe_latewar_display|late-war jet and rocket aircraft]].

There aren't many options for the He 162 'Sparrow', there is this one from Special Hobby (also released as [[https://www.scalemates.com/kits/special-hobby-sh72475-heinkel-he-162a-spatz--1450070|SH72475]] in alternative (i.e. captured) marking schemes), plus several from AZ, Revell and Dragon (all from around 2000 or earlier).

I also bought a colour photo-etch detail set from Eduard for the cockpit and other areas:

Quite unusual to have a detail set like this for such a relatively obscure kit like the //Special Hobby// He 162.
