Dragon 1/72 Panzer IV Ausf. J 'mid-production' tank

This kit was bought in August 2024 to be displayed as part of my WW2 French countryside ambush display. It will be part of a larger set of German armour (e.g. StuG III & IV, Tiger II, halftrack, etc) travelling away from the Normandy coast through bocage country when they come under attack by allied forces.

[Started construction July 2025] - Started building the main and upper hull sections. Lovely detail on these parts.

Upper and lower hull parts glued:

Turret built up and turret spaced armour added (very tricky to get the brackets and curved armour panels lined up properly!):

Remaining detail parts added to tank, and schurzen mounts glued to hull. The main skirt armour will be painted separately and then glued later, to make it easier to paint:

Painted in Vallejo dunkelgelb surface primer:

Road wheels and idler wheels added with rubber sections in grey:
