This is the wasted spark driver board that is solder by Motorsport Developments for converting the Sierra Cosworth from distributor and coil to a more modern wasted spark system. In addition to the wasted spark driver internal to the ECU, a loom from the ECU to a pair of OEM type spark amplifiers, a Ford Zetec-style coilpack and Zetec to Cosworth ignition leads are necessary.
In addition to the instructions here, the distributor top can be removed, with the rotor arm and cap being replaced by a simple blanking plate:
The distributor should be retained as the base gear is necessary to mesh with the gearing of the oil pump. Internally, the phase sensor within the distributor is also retained for normal ECU systems.
