Military Kits

Military (historical, non-fiction) vehicle kit, figures and accessories. This is where I started with the hobby, way, way back in the 1980's with typical Airfix kits of Spitfires and Hurricanes - painting in horrid colours from those nasty little enamel cans and then strung up from my bedroom ceiling with string!

Things have come a long way since that time, and a lot of the modern kits and figures have levels of detail that would have seemed unreal back then.

Most of the models and kits in the list above were bought with the intention of using them in displays or extended diorama scenes in my display cabinets - these are designed to fit entirely within the confines of a standard IKEA Billy bookcase (76cm x 26cm). Normally I build displays over two identically sized tiles (38cm x 26cm) which makes it easier to assemble and remove from the bookcase.

The list below are the main displays built so far.

WW2 French countryside ambush - This is a display being planned of Allied forces (Sherman tanks, anti-tank guns, infantry) ambushing a German armoured column in the French countryside during WWII.

WW2 German Airfield display - This is a display to hold most of the WWII German fighter planes (BF109, FW190, Me410) and ground staff.

This is a display I am planning to hold most of the late war, prototype, jet or rocket powered models from WWII that are in the table above.

It is intended to be a multi-level Luftwaffe base hidden within a mountain or underground; probably with rail transport, some sort of gantry or lift to move aircraft from the lower level to ground for launch.
