Although it is an old Master Grade kit, dating from 2003, it still holds up really well - perhaps not as much detail as a modern kit, but it's solid, well articulated and just an overall awesome design (reminiscent of a deep-sea diving suit.. with claws). Plus it was a design piloted by Char Aznable, so it's automatically awesome for being red.

This was the second Master Grade kit I built (early 2018), as well as the first kit I ever airbrushed. I had only ever used spray cans and brush painted details, I was surprised how easy it was to get to grips with the airbrush, as well as try things like pre-shading (which worked incredibly well).

Overall I am really pleased with the way it came out (despite the mess-up with some of the decals being applied after the final matt coat…).

Final matt coating

Decals on (which are all from an additional waterslide pack specific to the MG Char's Z'Gok and are are not included in the kit).

The final (matt) coat applied. I kinda messed up by putting the matt coat on several of the parts before the decals though, so some of them look quite 'silvery'; I've since changed to using decal softener and decal setter after applying a gloss coat and before final coat….

First gloss coat

Looking great, but way too shiny…
