==== Early Digital Camera History ====

I've had some of the really early digital cameras when they first appeared on the market. Looking back at some of the first ones (the Samsung!) they are laughably poor in terms of technology and quality... I think it was really only the convenience factor (no need to send your film away to get it developed) that spurred on the adoption of these very basic devices.

A look at the storage media that the Samsung (and other similar devices on the market at the time) used. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SmartMedia|Smartmedia]] was one of the early mass-market solid state storage mediums and was quite popular for a while. You can see how large the cards are compared to a typical Compact Flash, SD and Micro SD card... but also how //thin// they are:
