This is an old revision of the document!

This is a plastic OO Gauge shunter kit from Dapol, and an old OO gauge Hornby wagon. They are intended to be painted up as a train in WWII Wehrmacht colours to be used as a parts/ammunition delivery system for the Luftwaffe Secret Base diorama.

The engine kit builds into this:

Fig. 1: Manufacturer box art.

But, I will try to make a few changes (not least being the colour scheme!) to make it look like this WR200 series German train:

Fig. 2: Example of completed model.

The flat bed wagon is just a generic, older Hornby part. It will need a repaint, but is otherwise just a standard wagon which will be used for parts, fuel drums etc.

Starting with the wagon, it's a fairly simple case of priming it and repainting. It was old and worn (edges chipped etc), so couldn't really be left:

Engine was built and a few simple mods added - the front exhaust stack was removed and smoothed off, and a few grab rails were added to mimic the look of the German train… nothing fancy, as it's the scenery and aircraft that are the stars of the show, not the train itself. Next it was primed and then the main colours added; using Army Painter Speedpaint Grim Black, and a mix of Vallejo Bloody Red and Gory Red to get a desaturated red for the frame and wheels to match the German wartime colours:

Now it will need details picking out, and the cab finishing.
