Paints Used

Most of the paint colours recommended for the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 / 2202 series of kits are from Gunze / GSI Creos / Mr Color range, which are hard to source in the UK. In addition, most of the original paint sets are bespoke to the line and are out of production:

The colours used for this set are broadly the same as for Great Imperial Garmillas Astro Fleet Warships Set 2202, with a few additions for the battleship.

Mig AMMO Acrylic Color Mitsubishi Interior Green (A.MIG-0270)
IJN/Mitsubish Green A.MIG-0060 is a lighter green (more yellow?) than Pale Green A.MIG-0265.
This broadly corresponds to YC07 and YC08 options. My preference is towards the lighter option.

I wanted to go slightly different to the simple 'light green' lower hull of YC15 - which is just more of the same.
Instead I was sure of picking a colour that has more yellow to it.
Not quite sure of which of these tones to go with, but they all match better the lighter upper hull colour YC07 or the equivalent.

Decals

Japanese names for the display bases, plus a few waterslide decals for the engine scoops. A small number of very tiny Garmillas markings for the ships.

The first kit to be built up was the Gaiderol-class battleship. This is a dry build - no sanding or nub-mark cleanup, pegs pushed in loosely and a lot of the final, very delicate parts not yet attached. The engine intakes are left out as I hope to try and paint them off the kit, and refit later. Panel detail is excellent, but the kit is actually pretty simple to build (about 30-40 minutes to get to the state shown below); mainly constructed from large, well-moulded parts and with almost all of the seam/join lines hidden by intentional panel lines.

The kit builds into a loooong model:

The two included Kripitera destroyers are identical to the single ship included in the Garmillas Warships 2202 set, but comes with a unique two-post display base. Again these are quite simple to build - the two of them are probably took less than 25 minutes in total:

The battleship is approximately 35cm long - substantially larger than the other ships when placed next to them. Side by side it's a monster:

Of course, all of these now need to be taken apart again and cleaned off and sanded properly before primer. As with the other ships I'm going to try and paint the engine intakes separately, before they get installed.

Next up is the Garmillas tank - actually bigger than it appears in manufacturer images, and much closer in scale to a 1:72 Panzer IV or something similar.
