The Great Garmillas Astro Fleet 2202 Warship set contains three models:

Fig. 2: Kripitera-class destroyer; also included in Garmillas Set #2. Fig. 3: Kelkapia-class high speed cruiser. Fig. 4: Destria-class heavy cruiser.

In terms of sizes, they represent slightly different ship classes (heavy cruiser, cruiser, destroyer) and build to the following approximate sizes:

  • The Destria is around 26cm in length when complete
  • The Kelkapia is around 23cm

Here's another image of the Destria and Kelkapia, from a Bandai display at a hobby show, indicating the lighter colour options:

Note that the 2202 release of this ship set does not include the satellite weapon accessory unlike the original Garmillas Warship set #1 (seen in the image directly above), it contains the full sized extra ship - the Kripitera class - instead.

Paints Used

Most of the paint colours reccomended for the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 / 2202 series of kits are from Gunze / GSI Creos / Mr Color range, which are hard to source in the UK. In addition, most of the original paint sets are bespoke to the line and are out of production:

IJN/Mitsubish Green A.MIG-0060 is a lighter green (more yellow?) than Pale Green A.MIG-0265. This broadly corresponds to YC07 and YC08 options.
My preference is towards the lighter option. May benefit from a drop or two of pure white.
Main hull dark green YC09 or

Decals

The only decals included are some (Japanese) names of the ships for the display bases, plus some waterslide transfers for the engine scoops. No other markings, ship names etc. Typical for the Yamato sets; they don't have much in the way of decals included.

The models go together fairly easily - there aren't a huge amount of parts, but they are engineered very well, and for the most part are are undergated - not entirely of course, but the majority of the large panels are.

Here's the ships as a quick dry-build - no sanding, parts not quite-pushed into final position, and minus some of the smaller super-structure parts; i.e. they'll be pulled apart again prior to paint:

The engine intakes were left off as I think it should be feasible to paint those (they need blending from yellow to orange/red to match the TV show) prior to fitting and painting of the rest of the model.
