Miniatures & Painting - Rackham: Confrontation, Hybrid & Nemesis - Dirz

These are my Alchemists of Dirz / Scorpions models from Rackham. The majority of these models are intended to be displayed in my fantasy/steampunk sewer diorama.

			Aberration	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	Originally painted in early 2000's, plain base. From the Hybrid boardgame. Additional detailing done in 2024. Rebased to scenic base in September 2024. If I could source another copy of this (and the Nemesis clone), I would love to paint this again in my newer 'style', but don't want to sacrifice this original paintwork (which I'm still relatively pleased with).
			Aberration Prime	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	This is the later pre-painted plastic model. Bought in mid 2024 from a Chinese seller. Will need repainting. The model itself is cast from the same parts as the earlier all-metal model but is only a single fixed-pose (the metal kit having different head and arm options); it's a really nice figure and still very detailed for a plastic version. The only real issue is that the paint as applied from the factory is absolute rubbish, that and the lack of pose/part options (which were included in the original metal kit). Primed and pre-shaded, mounted on resin scenic base (October 2024). Painted and weathered (November 2024). All in all, with a proper paint job this is a really impressive model and I'm really pleased that I took the chance on buying the pre-painted plastic model.
			Arkeon Sanath	Alchemists of Dirz	28-30mm	1	Bought new from Cadwallon.com in August 2023. This is one of those models where the weapon/arms covers a significant part of the front of the model - suspect it will be easier to partially paint it, then fit the arm/swords.
			Belisarius Clones	Alchemists of Dirz	28-30mm	3	Set of 3 models. Bought new from Cadwallon.com in June 2024. Primed and pre-shaded and mounted on scenic bases (September 2024). In comparison to all of the other 'Dirz' models by Rackham, I would have to say that these are probably further down the 'quality scale' than the others. They're not bad, as such, but compared to the quality of everything else they stand out as not being in the same league. We will see what they look like after being painted.

			Dasyatis Clone 2	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	Resin kit. Bought new from Cadwallon.com in August 2023. Shown alongside the regular Dasyatis Clone 2 for size - I'd say it was perhaps 10% smaller. Painted, weathered and based - completed in September 2024.
			Dasyatis Prime	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	Ordered from Temple of the West (www.templewest.co) in September 2024. This is an officially licensed cast (in metal) of the unproduced Dasyatis Prime figure. Painted and weathered to match the Dasyatis Clone #1 and #2 figures. Fitted to matching scenic base (October 2024).

			Nefarius Clone	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	Loose, unbuilt original metal figure bought from eBay in Feb 2025.
			Nefarius Prime	Alchemists of Dirz	50mm	1	Ordered as a loose miniature from a Chinese seller in late 2024. This is from the later pre-painted plastic boxes. Will need repainting. Unlike some of the other plastic models the Nefarius is really quite odd looking - with arms that appear to be glued on (they're not). A couple of degrees of articulation for several of the arms and the waist - all of which really need gluing in order to stop the model from flopping about. Probably one of the weaker plastic models. Hopefully a good paint job, replacing the factory paint, will make up for some of that. Painted and weathered, fitted to resin scenic base (October 2024). It's still a little odd looking, but the custom paint job definitely improves the look of it over the out-of-box pre-painted plastic original.

All bases are from Tiny Worlds, who produce a wide range of resin scenery and bases. The size of base used for each model is listed in the table above. All except the oval bases are from the “round lipped, paved dungeon bases” range. The oval bases (used only on the Tigers and Razheem models) are instead from the “oval paved dungeon bases” range.
